RightTaxonomy™ Patent

RightTaxonomy is an educational method designed to:

  • Translate business needs into educational objectives
  • Translate educational objectives into interactive learning content
  • Create an optimal learning path
  • Create a personal taxonomic profile map for self-awareness and instructor facilitated remedial activities
  • Create a cohort taxonomic profile map for continuous content optimization
  • Work in tandem with the RightChallenge patent to create the optimal learning system

The RightTaxonomy method:

RightTaxonomy provides rigor around defining objectives and tagging questions based on what objectives they support and which thinking skills they challenge. Based on this Taxonomic competence profile, maps for each learner are generated both for self-awareness, as well for guiding instructors in providing the optimal remedial materials. It helps to know exactly what types of thinking skills are non-mastered. Finally from a cohort perspective, if a particular thinking skill is weak, it is an indication of a content improvement area.

How RightTaxonomy creates the ideal learning environment:

In order to distribute information, the instructional designer must form a strong connection to the business needs through well-written objectives and then follow up with creating materials corresponding to those objectives. The learner then can interact with these targeted assets. According to a study from the International Conference on Engineering Education ICEE-2010, Application of Bloom’s taxonomy for increasing teaching efficiency – case study:

"..In general, disregarding of the Bloom’s pyramid structure was found out as the leading source of … failure.."

RightTaxonomy works by ensuring there is an uninterrupted connection from business need to learner skill acquisition and diagnostics. An analogy or illustration of this would be that, "it does not matter how fast you run if you are running in the wrong direction." Also if you fail and do not know why, fixing the problem becomes exponentially more difficult. In a similar way, RightTaxonomy aims to assist in marrying business needs to learning and to enable learner and instructors to pinpoint learning and content issues incisively.
